Stewart Jackson says people in constituency are 'whingers and moaners'. He, a Conservative communities spokesman and MP for Peterborough, said that some people were too quick to “bash” the local authorities “for almost everything that goes wrong”. In his local newspaper column, he wrote: “This vogue manifests itself usually on the [newspaper’s website] forum – which is full of whingers and moaners usually ascribing to our elected councillors and officers the basest motives for their actions.

Peterborough was yesterday named as one of eight English local authorities told that it must urgently improve social care services for adults. It was found to be "poor" – the lowest rating possible – in terms of dignity and respect given to residents.
