Freddie Mercury rising

Freddie Mercury is in news. Yesterday, Paul Lynch persuaded Brian May, Mercury's former band mate in Queen, to unveil a plaque honouring the late singer in the High Street at Feltham, which is best known for its young offenders' institution. "Feltham is thought of as being the pits as an area, with some justice," Mr Lynch tells me, "but this is a positive way of talking about it."
Some people are sticklers when it comes to wearing ties on television. Adam Boulton, Sky's political editor, once wore one even as snow settled on him as he reported from Downing Street on the news that Gavyn Davies had resigned as chairman of the BBC governors. My readers are divided on the issue.
